The most important job for a small business owner is getting new customers. Because more customers and more sales can solve any business problem. And one of the best ways to get a constant stream of new customers is the blog.

Many business owners focus on endlessly perfecting their product. This is especially the case in software industry where every problem needs to be solved with code.

But realistically, if you are a business owner in today’s world, your title should actually be: website traffic generator.

Because with more visitors to your website you will have more customers, and in turn more money, and in turn you will have a successful business.

And that’s all there is to it.

As a small business owner, oftentimes it seems like you have many different tasks to do. But in reality, if you generated enough web traffic and sales, you could hire additional people to do all the work you don’t have the time to do.

So it’s really simple… small business owners have only one job: getting web traffic.

Blog Is A Small Business Owner’s Best Friend

Due to fluctuations in the amount of work in any small business, it is hard to have a constant amount of extra time on your hands. So trying to get extra web traffic with social media is extremely impractical.

Not to mention managing social media is a full-time job on its own.

But blog can be written once and it works forever.

And with time it just gets more and more views. While your posts on social media get fewer and fewer views as the time goes by. Which is why you can never stop posting on your social media or you’ll slowly start to lose your traffic.

This is not the case with the blog.

Therefore, it is really the perfect choice for small to medium business owners.

Why People Avoid Blogging

Simply put – it doesn’t give instant results.

It does give the best results in terms of return of investment on your time. And at the same time giving you the flexibility to produce content whenever it’s best suited to you, not the algorithm.

But, since we live in an instant gratification world, all these benefits can (and will) be overlooked by your competitors. And this makes blogging such a great opportunity for you.

Because whenever people or businesses are making an irrational decisions, there is an opportunity.

Blogging Opportunity For Small Business Owners

Just look what your competitors are doing. And what high price they’re paying for their short-sighted behavior:

  • paying ads
  • paying influences
  • putting up billboards
  • advertising in newspapers
  • etc.

And what do all these things have in common?

They all cost money and they are destroyed after a certain amount of time:

  • ads are gone the same second you stop paying for them
  • influencer stories are gone withing 24 hours
  • newspapers could last a day or two as people casually pick them up
  • billboards are gone after 2 weeks or a month most likely

So you’re paying for something with a certain expiration date. Something with 100% certainty it will stop working sooner rather than later.

And why do then people flock into these like crazy?

Because it gives instant results.

Maybe bad results, but instant nonetheless. Which is perfect for the instant gratification time we live in.

Blog Is An Investment That Keeps On Growing

On the other hand, if small business owners invest in a blog, they will not see the results instantly. Maybe they have to wait for 3-4 months.

BUT

Their investment skyrockets from that point forwards:

  • no additional time or investment is required into a specific blog post
  • it works “forever” for free
  • price of “advertising” is locked in even if the cost of the ads goes 2x up due to inflation

People talk about inflation hedging and having a blog is the best inflation hedge for small business owners.

How To Get The Traffic

Even though blog is great, you can’t just start writing about random stuff and expect good results.

You have to write about the things that people are searching for. And what do people enter when searching? – Keywords (SEO).

So you need to write about topics based on the keywords that are related to your business.

However, you will not get web traffic if you use the same keywords that everybody else is using. Because everybody’s content is competing for the same keywords, your chances of winning are almost none.

So your only solution are low competition keywords.

Low Competition Keywords

There are low competition keywords that can be found through professional keyword tools.

BUT

They have a problem.

If people who use these tools all look at the same “low” competition keywords, and they all decide to compete for them – suddenly, those keywords become competitive.

That is why the best keywords are the ones that the professional keywords tools cannot find. Even though some of them cost up to $400 per month.

Personally, I’m mostly using these secret keywords and if you’re reading this, it means they are definitely working.

And if you want to learn how to find them as well, check out this SEO book and it will show you how.
